At last, a WordPress automation tool that expands our site's capabilities — without it costing an arm and a leg, phew!
Boy have I been frustrated with the apps, plugins and services that power my WordPress sites that can’t work together — especially when just a few key integrations would solve important, but niche, needs for my business?
Sadly though, the best I could do, until now was to spend hundreds of dollars a year, for another 3rd party tool, that gets some of my WordPress tools interacting with each other…but, I didn't!!
There are very few small businesses that could afford spending such cash to gain automations that we hoped would already be part of our website’s DNA!
Now this is where Thrive Automator came in...
It's the automation plugin from Thrive Themes that allows me to build workflows that pass data between the different apps, plugins and services (including your email marketing tool) that run my business websites.
Thrive Automator actually resides inside WordPress, meaning it can see what’s happening website-wide — instantly. This gives me the power to trigger automations, such as, when users log in, fill out a form, finish a quiz, or complete specific lessons in my online courses (to name just a few possibilities)…
The list of available actions and triggers is also constantly growing!
I’ve just purchased their membership package, and I am so glad I did! They really deliver on the promise of speed — both in terms of UI, and general snappiness.
Kudos to them & their team Shane, those guys don't sit idle at all and are always coming up with great new features every day.
I am a fan and have already got 3 of my friends on board and they love This as much as I do!
This is really good insight, as i’ve used a few plugins as mentioned. So tired of buying themes then adding plugins, loving the new theme builder!! My daughter laughs at me every time i say they are all I use for wordpress. Awesome job.

What Type of Automations are Possible with Thrive Automator
The goal of Thrive Automator is to give us a central hub where we can not only set up automated tasks and workflows between different Thrive Suite plugins, but with our favorite third-party tools also!
This also means that Thrive Automator provides us with a gateway for outside developers to integrate their tools to work directly with Thrive Suite — creating an open Thrive Themes ecosystem!
But as the launch version of Thrive Automator is a public beta ( Thrive Suite customers only), the current automations focus is on expanding functionality between Thrive Suite plugins as well as with our favorite email marketing service.
To give you a small taste of what Thrive Automator makes possible, check out these following example automation recipes. Again, this is a only a tiny fraction of what’s possible with Thrive Automator — especially as it matures and comes out of beta:
Start an Evergreen Countdown Campaign for a Limited Time Offer After a Student Completes the Free Lessons in an Online Course
The usual WordPress LMS plugins cannot help us market and sell our online courses — but Thrive Automator can. How?
Thrive Automator can trigger a Thrive Ultimatum countdown timer that can promote a premium course for a limited time after visitors complete the initial free lessons of that course.
Thrive Automator will help For online course creators sell more.
Add a Customer to Your Mailing List After They Purchase One or More WooCommerce Products
Have you ever been frustrated that you cannot add new customers to your mailing list when they purchase one of your WooCommerce products?
It doesn't matter what email marketing service you’re using, Thrive Automator will now make adding new customers to your mailing list after purchase stupidly simple.
All you do is just create an automation that adds WooCommerce customers to your email list as soon as their WooCommerce order has been completed... that's absolutely all there is to it!
Add Tags to Your Email Subscribers When They Complete Specific Lessons or Modules in Your Course
Do you want to track how your individual students are progressing through your online courses so that you can do more targeted support and marketing for them?
All you have to do is just create an automation that adds email marketing tags to student accounts whenever they complete a specified lesson or module in their online courses.
I know it sounds simple, but think about all the advanced email marketing you can now go ahead with, using this new tagging capability. Thrive Automator takes your email marketing to an astronomical level.
Enroll a Quiz Taker in an Online Course When They Achieve a Certain Quiz Score
Wouldn’t it be REALLY cool if online quizzes could do way more than just generate new leads for you? What if a quiz could perform actions based on the results your individual quiz takers receive?
Thrive Automator makes MUCH more post-quiz actions possible.
ie., you could enroll your quiz takers in an online courses once they exceed a certain score. Your online quizzes are about to become a whole lot more interactive.
Start an Evergreen Countdown Campaign for a Limited Time Offer When a Subscriber Tries to Access One of Your Premium Courses.
If you create online courses, what happens when a basic subscriber tries to access one of your premium course lessons?
Using Thrive Automator, you can turn that unique type of visitor interaction into a real targeted sales opportunity.
Instead of displaying the usual generic “For customers only” notification, you can now create automations where countdown timers offer sales boosting, eye catching, limited time discounts for inquisitive students instead!
HOW THRIVE AUTOMATOR WORKS
Unlike some other overly complex task automation tools, Thrive Automator is both simple to use and comes with Thrive Suite!
Here’s how it works…
Open Thrive Automator's Dashboard
Firstly, open the Thrive Automator dashboard (in the backend area of your WordPress site) and click on the “+ Add New” button this will start creating new automations:
Next, select from the growing list of visitor, subscriber, student and customer based behavioral "Triggers" to begin your automations.
Here’s a taste of the growing Thrive Automator triggers you can currently choose from:
Create an account on your WordPress site
- Log into or out of your WordPress site
- Password reset
- User profile update
- Purchase a product
- Complete an order
- Get refunded
- Change the status of a product or order
- Complete a quiz
- Enroll in a course or bundle
- Complete a (free) course lesson or module
- Purchase a course or bundle
- Attempts to access a restricted course
- Submit a lead generation or contact form
Now that you’ve selected a trigger, you’ll need to apply a "Filter" so your automation is carried out with surgical precision.
For example, if you select one of the Thrive Apprentice course triggers, you can use the filter step to focus which course (or courses) your automation must be applied to. Note that the list of available filters you'll see in this step will change depending on which trigger you selected in the previous step.
Here’s a few examples of how filters can be used to make your automations incredibly granular:
When a student enrolls in a course, add an email tag, BUT IT IS ONLY for courses from a specific teacher.
When a visitor submits a form, add them to an email marketing service, BUT IT IS ONLY for forms embedded on a specific page AND that contain a telephone number.
When a visitor completes a quiz, give them access to a specific Thrive Apprentice Course, BUT IT IS ONLY IF the quiz result is above 80%.
But sometimes it's important that certain steps in your automations don't happen instantaneously — and that’s why Thrive Automator was built with powerful "Delay" options.
Assign delays (specified in minutes, hours, days, weeks, months or even years!) to have each of your action steps fire exactly when you want them to.
And if you need to add multiple actions to a single automation, you're free to mix and match your trigger timing as necessary. Set up one action to fire immediately with the next action firing after a delay. Whatever you need!
The last part of setting up any automation in Thrive Automator is to pick an "Action" from our growing list of available options.
Like the filter step, these actions will dynamically change depending on your chosen trigger. New actions are being added to Thrive Automator all the time!
Here are some of the actions that are currently available:
Enroll a user in a Thrive Apprentice course
Remove a user form a Thrive Apprentice course
Begin a Thrive Ultimatum Campaign
Add a user to an email marketing service
Add a tag to an email marketing service
Add a WooCommerce product into an order
As you can imagine, this action list will start expanding very quickly as they mature Thrive Automator out of Beta & roll out their open ecosystem app store!
That’s correct, a wealth of 3rd-party integrations with Thrive Automator is just around the corner...
Built To Be Developer-Friendly
Thrive Automator was built from the ground zero up, to be developer-friendly and cultivate a continually growing ecosystem of 3rd party integrations. As a matter of fact, we wrote the code base to be readable and human — along with very easy-to-follow developer documentation.
If you know of a developer that creates WordPress plugins or off-site software, invite them to get involved all they have to do is join our developers community, read our developer documentation, and integrate with our API. It's simple!
Think about the possibilities…
Once a developer integrates their own triggers and actions within Thrive Automator, suddenly their software can pair with everything else that's in the ecosystem through Thrive Automator's easy-to-manage automations!
What Can You Expect Next?
You probably wondering why we released Thrive Automator in “Public Beta” and what we have in store for you next…
Well, you had better buckle up cause it’s going to be a wild ride!
